BAISERbaiser

Baiser Baiser is a short film from Denver-based actor and director Laura Lounge, inspired by an excerpt from the Grand Guignol, the iconic Parisian horror theater of the early 20th century. The film follows a rising artist who, desperate to escape a cycle of abuse, is ultimately drawn into the very painting she creates.

Baiser Baiser serves as a chilling warning of a society where technological advancement parallels the erosion of humanity. This psychedelic thriller is shot on 16mm film and powered by practical effects, as Lounge pushes the boundaries of conventional filmmaking.

In this bold return to cinema’s experimental roots, Lounge manipulates the medium to enhance the narrative, channeling the essence of postdramatic theatre and postmodern art. The film pays homage to avant-garde pioneers like Maya Deren and Stan Brakhage, breathing new life into the traditions they forged.

Starring Steph Holmbo (Soft, Liquid Center), Brian Landis-Folkins (Rent-a-Pal; Big Sky), and Orion Carrington (Love Lies Bleeding; Opus).
