BAISERbaiser
Starring Steph Holmbo (Soft, Liquid Center), Brian Landis-Folkins (Rent-a-Pal; Big Sky), Orion Carrington (Love Lies Bleeding; Opus)
A rising artist struggles to escape the cycle of abuse, and falls into her own painting. Baiser Baiser is a warning of a devolved society, where an incline in technology leads to a decline in humanism.
In this psychedelic horror, shot on 16mm film, and driven by practical and in-camera effects, director Laura Lounge pushes the boundaries of conventional filmmaking.
By manipulating the medium to serve the narrative, she echoes the spirit of postdramatic theatre and postmodern art; with homages to still photographers Francesca Woodman, Nan Goldan, and sound artist Alvin Lucier.
A bold return to the experimental roots of cinema, Lounge’s work honors trailblazers like Karel Zeman and Stan Brakhage, breathing new life into the avant-garde traditions they pioneered.
BAISERbaiser is inspired by La Baiser dans la Nuit, an excerpt of the Grand Guinol- Parisian horror theatre of the early 20th century.
BAISERbaiser was shot on 16mm Kodak film, produced under SAG-AFTRA student film agreement. A female led, 75% female identifying team, and qualifies for the diversity in casting initiative.

Grand Guignol
Grand Guignol.
Théâtre du Grand-Guignol was a Victorian theatre in Paris that specialized in showcasing the most stylized, gory and shocking horror theatre in the world. Founded in melodrama, the Grand Guignol’s plays were meant to stun and terrorize audiences; and the theatre even boasted an on-staff doctor to resuscitate victimized patrons. Pandemic Collective’s fourth presentation of Grand Guignol showcased The Final Kiss and Chop-Chop! or The Guillotine, two timeless scripts originally performed in the 1900's, revived for a second life in Denver.
